Women and African Americans
Because of the Emancipation African Americans now had the
right and ability to join the Union and enlist in the armed forces.
On that same note, women were also beginning to be recognized,
respected, and appreciated more and they were able to help
manage farm, families and business' they also could serve as nurses.
